CHAPEL OF OUR LADY OF PIETY - MONTE, MADGAON

Every major town in Goa, has its little hill or hillock which offers some of the best views of the town, the Altinho hill in Panjim, the hillock at Mapusa which houses the St Xavier’s college and the mount at Old Goa, all give visitors panoramic views of the towns below stretching up to the horizons. Margao, the commercial capital of Goa, also has its magnificent hill, popularly called the Monte Hill. At the top of this hill, which can be reached by a long and winding lane, is the chapel of Calçada de Nossa Senhora de Piedade or Our Lady of Mercy.

The white washed picturesque chapel is at the highest point of Margao and a favourite amongst those wanting to spend time observing Margao’s ever changing landscape or to enjoy the cool breezes coming from the nearby Colva Sea.
